2 minors among three injured in RB road mishap

NONGPOH, July 20: A Maruti 800 car and a Grand Vitara collided head on near the Deputy Commissioner’s office junction in Nongpoh around 3 pm on Thursday rendering three people injured, among them two were minors.
The ill-fated Maruti 800 bears the registration number ML 05 K 0723, driven by one Phlipson Khongjoh from Downgate village and the Grand Vitara bears registration number ML 10 E 2007 which was driven by one Samborlang Kurbah from Umran Dairy, informed local sources.
According to the statement given by Samborlang Kurbah, he was heading towards Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh, from Byrnihat along with his relatives to get medicine for a child. Tragically, before reaching the DC office junction, the Grand Vitara collided with the Maruti as the latter was attempting to take a U-turn.
Kurbah recounted that the accident spot usually had traffic police present, ensuring the smooth flow of vehicles.
However, on the fateful day, there were no traffic police officers present at the junction.
Police have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and to ascertain if any negligence or other factors contributed to the collision. Later, both the vehicles were taken to Nongpoh Police Station.
