SHILLONG, July 20: A total of 17 vehicles were busted by Shillong Traffic Police over modified exhaust pipes, the police said in a statement issued here on Thursday. The STP also conducted vigorous vehicle checking drives and detected 755 cases realising a total fine of Rs 7.68 lakh this month so far.
Police pointed out that vehicles and two-wheelers with modified exhaust pipes create disturbance by emitting loud noise thereby becoming a social nuisance. The STP has appealed to all vehicle owners, who have retrofitted their exhaust pipes to kindly get them removed and replace them with original ones.
