Committee on estimates inspects stalled projects

SHILLONG, July 21: The Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Estimates, led by Chairman and Nongpoh Legislator, Mayralborn Syiem, recently conducted a comprehensive 3-day tour to inspect pending projects in five districts of the state.
The primary focus of the inspection was to assess the status of stalled projects initiated by the Health Department and the Education Department in the region.
The esteemed Committee, accompanied by its members – Mawkyrwat MLA, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar; Raksamgre MLA, Limison D. Sangma; Ampati MLA, Miani D Shira; Jowai MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla; Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar; Selsella MLA, Arbinstone B. Marak; Rambrai Jyrngam MLA, Remington Gabil Momin; and Umroi MLA, Damanbait Lamare – commenced its inspection tour on July 19. The districts covered are – Eastern West Khasi Hills District, West Khasi Hills District, East Garo Hills District, West Garo Hills District and Ri Bhoi District. During the course of the inspection, the Committee visited several stalled projects in these districts with spot inspections conducted to ascertain the ground realities. The projects that were inspected on included: The Residential School at Lawbyrtun in Mawthadraishan, Eastern West Khasi Hills district,.The Polytechnic Institute in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills district, Nongchram Demik Residential School in Rongjeng, East Garo Hills,.Eklavya Model Residential School Samanda, under Nengkra, Samanda Block, East Garo Hills.
The committee shifted its focus to West Garo Hills district, where spot inspections were carried out at the following locations: Trauma Centre at Tura Civil Hospital,. And Edenbari ABDK Residential School at Rongram. Continuing its mission to assess pending projects, the Estimates Committee concluded its tour on July 21st, 2023, in Ri Bhoi district. The projects inspected on this day included are – Eklavya Model Residential School project at Pahamsyiem, Umling CRD Block, The Polytechnic at Nongkhrah, Nonglyngdoh village, Trauma Centre at Nongpoh Civil Hospital, Nongpoh and Maternal and Child Health Hospital at Umsning.
