NONGSTOIN, July 24: Students of Nongstoin had a reason to rejoice on Monday as Synod College Nongstoin was inaugurated by Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma here.
Sangma, who was the chief guest of the programme, lauded the contributions of Christian missionaries in the field of education and their impact on the society.
He also lauded and congratulated the governing body of the college for their endeavour.
The Education minister informed the gathering that the government would extend all possible assistance to the college as part of its efforts of uplift the education sector in the state.
Guest of honour Gabriel Wahlang, MLA of Nongstoin, also requested the minister to ensure support to the college.
President of the governing body of Synod College, Rev SS Majaw, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the Almighty for enabling KJP Synod Sepngi to start the college in Nongstoin even as he conveyed his appreciation to all stakeholders for helping in realising the dream.
Other who were present include Adviser to the Education department, HM Shangpliang, Principal, Synod College, Shillong, Dr RM Lyngdoh, government officials, church pastors and elders, teachers and members of the governing body of the college, besides students.
