Shillong, July 30: Elon Musk’s Twitter Headquarters in the city has become a cause of distress for nearby residents due to a glaring lighting scheme centered around a massive X logo on the building. The intense illumination from the logo has left people puzzled and sleep-deprived, prompting them to consider buying window blinds to shield themselves from the bothersome light.

As per IANS, videos and complaints have flooded social media platforms as residents express their frustration. One individual living next to the X HQ tweeted, “Imagine no more. This is my life now,” accompanied by a short video showcasing the logo’s brightness at night. Another person empathized, commenting, “I would be LIVID. Imagine this X sign right across from your bedroom.”

The intrusive lighting scheme has drawn ire from X users as well. One person remarked, “I love living in the city and all that comes with it. I love the streetlights, the sirens, the dings of the trolley. Nothing about this stupid sandbagged solar flare is normal or good.”

In response to the growing discontent, Elon Musk defended the decision to keep X’s headquarters in San Francisco. He revealed that despite tempting offers to move the company elsewhere, X will remain steadfast in its commitment to the city. Musk posted, “You only know who your real friends are when the chips are down. San Francisco, beautiful San Francisco, though others forsake you, we will always be your friend.”

It’s worth noting that in December of the previous year, Twitter faced legal trouble when it was sued for failing to pay $136,250 in rent for its San Francisco HQ. Despite this, Musk remains resolute in the company’s loyalty to the city.
