One dies in head-on collision in SWKH

Mawkyrwat, July 30: One person died on the spot and another sustained severe injuries in a head-on collision between a bike and a taxi in Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills on Sunday.
According to sources, the incident occurred at 2:30 pm on Sunday. The two-wheeler was travelling from Mawlangwir to Mawkyrwat when it collided head-on with a taxi coming from the opposite direction near Civil Hospital Mawkyrwat.
In the incident, the pillion rider Shemphanglin Lyngdoh (23) from Mawlangwir succumbed to his injuries on the spot while the rider, a 15-year-old boy also from Mawlangwir suffered grave injuries.
He was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital Mawkyrwat for treatment.
Enquiry into the incident is in progress.
