SHILLONG, July 31: The KSU South Central Circle on Monday confirmed that it is going ahead with its 24-hour blockade of the National Highway 44 under Pynursla civil subdivision will be effective from 5 am on Tuesday. The road blockade has been called to pressurise the state government to repair the dilapidated Shillong-Dawki highway.
The KSU said vehicles will not be allowed to enter Pynursla from either Shillong or Dawki.
The road blockade call has been supported by Khasi-Jaintia Truck Drivers’ and Owners’ Union, Association of All India Tourists Permit of Pynursla, Pynursla Sumo, Taxi, Maxi Owners’ Association, HNYF, FKJGP and Pynursla Taxi Association.
The KSU unit appealed the people to support their blockade call, saying that it was meant for the benefit of the people and daily commuters on the highway.
