Fund-raiser for Myntdu river
JOWAI, July 31: Members of Khoid ya ka Myntdu along with Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), Jaintia Student Movement (JSM), Synjuk ki Waheh Shnong Jowai Urban, Riloom Jaintia, and Jaintia Fishing and Environment Protection Association (JFEPA) met the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills to deliberate over the illegal extraction of boulders and sand from Myntdu river. In the meeting, it was decided that a bank account will be opened to help raise funds for protection of Myntdu river. A builder who was involved in extracting the boulders for the last few days, Friday Hinge, agreed to donate Rs 5 lakh towards the fund.
Financial literacy camp at NABARD
TURA, July 31: The National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD) organised a financial literacy camp for the students of Tura Public School at their campus on Monday as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) initiative of Government of India. The programme was attended by Beryl B Sangma, Retd. Chief General Manager, Reserve Bank of India as Chief Guest in the presence of Pranab Bhowmik, Principal, Tura Public School. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Kittmiller N Sangma, District Development Manager, NABARD highlighted NABARD’s contribution in the districts of West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills through various developmental interventions.
