Shillong, August 2: The Iranian government has taken measures to protect public health by announcing the closure of all public and private institutions for two days, starting from Wednesday.
The decision comes in response to an unprecedented heat wave that is forecasted to hit the country, with temperatures in some regions expected to exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Government spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahromi tweeted that the cabinet approved the proposal put forward by the Health Ministry to safeguard citizens’ well-being.
Essential service providers can seek permits to continue their operations during the closure period. Cities like Ahvaz may face temperatures surpassing 50 degrees Celsius during this extreme weather event.
