Shillong, August 6: According to a prominent leaker, LeaksApplePro, Apple is expected to introduce the next-generation tracker, ‘AirTag 2’, in 2025.

The upcoming device is rumored to come with a host of new features, including “3D Precision Finding.” The leaker indicated that earlier estimates for a 2024 launch might be too optimistic, as per insider sources.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also weighed in, stating that he believes AirTag 2 will enter mass production in the fourth quarter of this year (Q4 2023). Kuo suggested that Apple is working to establish a new ecosystem centered around spatial computing, utilizing Vision Pro as the core and integrating various devices, including the AirTag 2.

IANS reported that Apple first introduced AirTag in April 2021, offering a compact and elegantly designed accessory to help customers keep track of their important items using the Find My app. The current AirTag boasts precision-etched polished stainless steel, water and dust resistance, a built-in speaker for sound location assistance, and a replaceable battery.

The utility of AirTag has been demonstrated in numerous cases where users were successfully reunited with their lost or stolen belongings. For instance, the tracker played a crucial role in tracking down a restaurant burglar who stole goods worth $15,000. It also aided in apprehending a thief and securing a 15-month imprisonment term. Furthermore, AirTag helped apprehend robbers involved in more than $62,000 worth of thefts, and even rescued a one-year-old Australian shepherd named Seamus, who fell into a storm drain during a walk. The tracker led rescuers to his location, ensuring a happy ending.

Apple’s AirTag 2 is eagerly awaited by consumers, who anticipate a range of enhanced features to further enhance item tracking and retrieval.
