SHILLONG, Aug 8: The state government is ecstatic with the success of ‘Ka Lawei’, a digital education programme initiated by the district administration of East Jaintia Hills.
‘Ka Lawei’, which means ‘the future’, is the brainchild of East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal, and it aims to enhance education by integrating digital technology to empower their teachers.
Amidst a wave of excitement and gratitude, students and teachers have started to wholeheartedly embrace digital education in East Jaintia Hills.
Speaking to media persons about this programme, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma said that 15 schools have been augmented with Smart TV under ‘Ka Lawei’ initiative.
According to the minister, a particular school from East Jaintia Hills, which was among laggards in the SSLC examinations, was able to achieve cent per cent results in the last board examinations.
The curriculum focuses on subjects such as Mathematics, Science, History, Civics, Geography, and Economics while also incorporating two additional subjects — Computers and English Grammar — in alignment with the Meghalaya Board of School Education.
The Education minister, who had also visited East Jaintia Hills, reviewed the programme and the education scenario in the district.
It may be mentioned that a felicitation programme was organised at Don Bosco College, Byndihati, on Monday for school teachers to celebrate their efforts as well as the schools under the project ‘Ka Lawei’.
