Shillong, August 9: Raids conducted at the residence of a former health department employee in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, have revealed a staggering collection of assets valued at Rs 10 crore. Ashfaq Ali, who had retired from the position of store-keeper, had received a monthly salary of approximately Rs 45,000 during his tenure.

As per India Today, the operation led by Lokayukta Special Police (SP) yielded a treasure trove of valuables. Gold and silver articles amounting to Rs 46 lakh, along with a substantial cash sum of Rs 20 lakh, were uncovered within Ali’s domicile. Notably, the house itself boasts a lavish array of opulent features, including a state-of-the-art modular kitchen, an exquisite chandelier valued at lakhs of rupees, luxury sofas and showcases, a modern refrigerator, and a high-end television.

Ashfaq Ali’s previous assignment had been as a store-keeper at the district hospital in Rajgarh.

The raids, executed by the Lokayukta department across various locations, brought to light a significant disparity between Ali’s assets and his reported income. A senior police official disclosed to PTI that the cumulative disproportionate assets are estimated to be in the vicinity of Rs 10 crore.

Further investigations led to the discovery of pertinent documents outlining ownership of 16 immovable properties, collectively valued at around Rs 1.25 crore. These properties were traced in the names of Ali, his wife, son, and daughter, signaling a complex web of asset ownership.

In addition to the aforementioned findings, Lokayukta officials have also been made aware of the existence of four distinct buildings. These include an under-construction shopping complex spanning 14,000 square feet of land, a sprawling one-acre plot, and a grandiose edifice.

The comprehensive raids have shed light on a substantial accumulation of wealth that far exceeds the former store-keeper’s reported earnings, prompting inquiries into the origins and legitimacy of these amassed assets.
