Shillong, August 13: Japanese automotive giant Toyota has initiated a recall of approximately 168,000 recently manufactured vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire hazard. The recall pertains to specific 2022 and 2023 model-year Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles.

IANS reported that according to the recall notice issued by Toyota, the affected vehicles are equipped with a plastic fuel tube that could come into contact with a brake line, potentially leading to a fuel leak. The presence of a fuel leak in the vicinity of an ignition source poses a heightened risk of fire.

To address this issue, Toyota will replace the problematic fuel tube with an enhanced part and additional clamps at no expense to the customers. The automaker is in the process of preparing the necessary remedy parts for the recall. Meanwhile, affected customers will have temporary protective measures installed on their vehicles, including protective materials and a clamp on the fuel tube.

Owners affected by this recall will be informed about the issue by early October 2023. This initiative follows a voluntary recall conducted by several automakers, including Toyota, last year to rectify faulty components. In collaboration with other companies, Toyota aims to ensure vehicle safety and minimize potential risks to drivers and passengers.
