SHILLONG, Aug 16: As many as 15 students reportedly fainted during the Independence Day celebrations at Polo Grounds on Tuesday.
Confirming this, an official who was on duty at the programme venue, said around 200 students from various city schools had participated in the programme.
“The students fainted during Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s address. The CM’s speech was quite lengthy,” the official said.
It may be mentioned that a few of the students had to be taken out of the ground on stretchers due to fatigue and dehydration. However, none of them were hospitalised, the official added.
