KSU puts drug dealers’ den under lock and key in Nongstoin

Nongstoin, Aug 8: The Khasi Student Union (KSU), Nongstoin Circle, today shut down and sealed the house at Khlieh iew Nongstoin which was used by the drug peddlers for drug trade and by drug users to meet.

The KSU Nongstoin Circle led by its General Secretary, Comingstar Kharsyntiew and other members carried out the inspection at Khlieh Iew (Nongstoin market) where people were complaining that the Nongstoin market was unsafe after getting dark and some called a den of drugs, an abandoned house, provided a place for drug dealers.

The KSU during the inspection found the house which was used by drug peddlers to meet and commit their illegal activities, the members of the KSU also warned them not to create any illegal activities within Nongstoin market and put the house under lock and key.

Comingstar Kharsyntiew told media here that the Syiem of Hima Nongstoin recently had notified that house owners were not allowed to lease out to people without proper identification especially to drug users, and the KSU has urged the Syiem of Nongstoin to restrict all the house owners to follow the order passed by the office.

The KSU therefore gave a stern warning to all the house and shop owners not to lease out to the people without verifying their background.
