Shillong, August 23: The Ministry of Education has introduced a new curriculum framework, allowing students to take board examinations twice annually and opt for the best score.
Additionally, it is now mandatory for Class 11 and 12 students to study two languages, one of which must be Indian. This move aims to provide flexibility in subject selection, breaking away from traditional streams.
As per IANS, the New National Education Policy’s curriculum framework, developed with guidance from the Kasturirangan Committee, has been submitted to the government by a steering committee. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed this and stated that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will now oversee the implementation.
NCERT has established the National Oversight Committee and the National Syllabus and Textbook Committee to shape the curriculum. Pradhan emphasized their role in creating a syllabus aligned with 21st-century demands and rooted in original Indian perspectives.
The Education Minister’s vision extends to crafting progressive teaching and learning materials from primary to higher secondary levels. The initiation of this transformative approach holds the promise of meeting global expectations while embracing India’s potential, as articulated in the concept of “Amrit Kaal” by the Prime Minister.
