SHILLONG, Aug 26: As many as 200 proficient nurses from the state have been selected to serve in overseas countries.
This was preceded by a highly anticipated Overseas Nursing Job Fair that took place in Shillong earlier this month which saw the enthusiastic participation of over a thousand nurses.
According to sources from the Health department, most of the nurses have opted to work in English-speaking countries like the UK.
It may be mentioned that the state government also intends to support the selected nurses with a subsidy of Rs 50,000.
The government collaborated with NAVIS HR Pvt Ltd, NURSEDGE and the New Delhi-based Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) to give the aspirants an opportunity to work in countries such as Germany, Japan, the UK, and the UAE.
Selection for a candidate entails support for accommodation during training in India, conditional job offer, upskilling system, and language training for six months in Delhi, Mumbai, or Bengaluru.
