Shillong, August 28: Tech mogul Elon Musk has projected a considerable expansion of Tesla’s fleet, envisioning it to grow to around 10 million vehicles in the coming years.
As per IANS, Musk recently conducted a live-streamed test drive of a Model 3 equipped with the full self-driving software (FSD) beta V12 version, attracting millions of viewers on X (formerly Twitter).
While opinions on Musk’s FSD demonstration varied, with some critics questioning its safety and supporters applauding its enhancements, American author and tech advocate Robert Scoble highlighted it as the “first public demonstration of a robot that learned to move around the world by watching only videos.”
In response, Musk disclosed that the inference compute power needed for the FSD V12 demo was merely around 100W on Tesla’s AI computer. He emphasized that this seemingly modest power is sufficient for achieving superhuman driving.
However, Musk emphasized that achieving superhuman driving through AI demands substantial financial investment—billions of dollars annually—and a vast fleet of vehicles. Currently, Tesla has over four million capable vehicles on the road for AI training, and this number is anticipated to grow to around 10 million in the next few years.
