Govt employee loses life in road mishap on Umsning Bypass

NONGPOH, Aug 27: A 56-year-old government servant lost his life in a hit-and-run case on the Umsning Bypass at Lumumpih village on Saturday evening.
The victim, identified as Hamanroy Cajee, was a resident of Lumumpih and was an employee of the Agriculture department in Shillong.
As per reports, Cajee was hit by an unknown vehicle at Lumumpih and suffered critical head injuries.
Locals rushed to his aid and immediately transported him to the Umsning Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical attention but he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending medical officer.
Police have launched a thorough investigation into the hit-and-run incident. They are working to identify and apprehend the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the accident.
