Prog at MLCU aims to foster research skills

SHILLONG, Aug 27: With the aim of inculcating research skills, the Department of Doctoral Studies and Research, Martin Luther Christian University, as part of its annual event, organised a two-day programme on different research-based activities on August 24-25.
Students from various departments of the university participated in these activities which included Quiz, literature hunt, data interpretation, out of the box and research poster competition presentation.
The programme culminated with a valedictory function on August 25 which was attended by Dr Eros V Kharshiing, Associate Professor, St Edmunds College, and member of the Doctoral Committee MLCU, Shillon, as the chief guest.
Kharshiing highlighted the importance of research being deeply rooted in the concerns of the local community. He emphasised that such a focus allows research to address challenges effectively by offering nuanced understanding, localised insights, and innovative approaches.
He further stressed on how innovation in research has the potential to revolutionise various aspects of life, fostering new ways of living, working, and interacting.
The chief guest emphasised that researchers bear a substantial responsibility. Research has the power to influence policies, guide decisions, and shape lives, according to him.
