ANTF holds suspected drug peddler in Ri-Bhoi

Nongpoh, Sep 1: Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) personnel of Ri-Bhoi apprehended a suspected drug carrier at Shangbangla on Friday.
The arrested person identified as Nurul Huda from Nagaon, Assam was intercepted by the ANTF team while he was on his way from Guwahati to Shillong and 29.2 grams of suspected contraband was recovered from his possession.
The operation commenced after authorities received intelligence suggesting that Huda might be transporting contraband substances from Guwahati to Shillong.
Acting swiftly on information, the ANTF team conducted a checkpoint inspection on passenger vehicles, and at around 2:13 pm, the team detected a passenger vehicle with the suspected person.
Nurul Huda, a resident of Near Telia Bebejia, Nagaon, Juria, Assam, was found in possession of three soapboxes containing 29.2 grams of a suspected contraband substance inside.
Subsequently, a preliminary test confirmed the presence of heroin in the seized substance.
As a result of the findings, law enforcement officers seized the contraband along with one mobile phone, and a criminal case will be initiated against Huda in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further investigations into the matter are going on, and authorities are determined to identify any potential links to larger drug trafficking networks operating in the area.
