Shillong, September 2: ‘Gadar 2’, directed by Anil Sharma and featuring Sunny Deol, has been a box office powerhouse since its release on August 11.

Despite a clash with ‘OMG 2,’ starring Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, ‘Gadar 2’ has shattered box office records. As of its 23rd day in theaters, the film is poised to enter the coveted 500-crore club.

As per India Today, the sequel marked Sunny Deol’s reunion with Ameesha Patel, rekindling the magic of their 2001 hit film, ‘Gadar.’ ‘Gadar 2’ has successfully recreated that same magic at the box office. According to early estimates and sources like Sacnilk, the Anil Sharma-directed movie is expected to earn around Rs 6 crore on its 23rd day, bringing the total box office collection of ‘Gadar 2’ to Rs 492.75 crore.

The film’s storyline seamlessly continues from where it left off in 2001, a clever move that allowed the sequel to maintain its connection with the original. This approach spared the film from potential challenges of updating the story to a more modern setting, given the 22-year gap between the two films.

In ‘Gadar 2,’ Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) has built a life with his beloved Sakina, and their love continues to grow. Their son, a college-goer, also plays a significant role in the film, and his admiration for his father takes him on unexpected journeys.

Apart from Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the movie also stars Utkarsh Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, and Simrat Kaur, contributing to its success at the box office.
