Chandramukhi 2 trailer revealed: Kangana Ranaut shines in haunting role

Shillong, September 3: Director P Vasu has unveiled the trailer for his upcoming Tamil comedy-horror film, ‘Chandramukhi 2.’ The trailer carries the essence of the 2004 original while establishing its own unique identity.

As per IANS, the standout element is Kangana Ranaut’s portrayal of Chandramukhi, a captivating and eerie ghost of a long-deceased dancer. Kangana Ranaut, in the titular role, brings Chandramukhi from the court of King Vettiyan Raja to life. She displays her exceptional dancing skills and embodies the character as a beautifully seductive and haunting dancer.

Raghava Lawrence takes on the role of Vettiyan Raja, delivering the expected bombastic action. Vadivelu joins the cast as Murugesan, adding his impeccable comic timing to the mix.

The movie weaves between events of the past and the present, reminiscent of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa.’ Once again, a family moves into a haunted palace, housing the vengeful spirit of an angry female ghost. However, ‘Chandramukhi 2’ focuses more on supernatural horror and comedy, without delving into the psychological horror of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa.’

The plot carries an air of mystery, with Kangana Ranaut’s Chandramukhi clearly depicted as a scorned woman seeking bloody vengeance, reminiscent of Monjolika from ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa.’

It’s worth noting that the 2005 ‘Chandramukhi’ itself is a remake of the Kannada film ‘Apthamitra’ from 2004. Interestingly, ‘Apthamitra’ is a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film ‘Manichitrathazu,’ with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ being its Bollywood adaptation.

The trailer showcases impressive set design, stunning visuals, and a remarkable score by M.M. Keeravani. Additionally, it features impressive CGI, including a digital panther that adds to the film’s allure.

‘Chandramukhi 2’ appears to be a captivating and intriguing film, with Kangana Ranaut in a compelling role. Mark your calendars for its release on September 15, 2023.
