Shillong, September 4: Hyundai Motor has introduced the Ioniq 5 N, the first all-electric model under its N brand, in the domestic market, signaling its commitment to becoming a future mobility solutions provider.
The Ioniq 5 N, originally unveiled at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, is equipped with an 84 kWh battery pack and boasts impressive acceleration, capable of going from zero to 100 kph in just 3.4 seconds.
This new model represents a category of driver-focused high-performance electric vehicles (EVs) and offers advanced cornering and racetrack capabilities while remaining suitable for everyday driving.
With a price tag of $58,000 after accounting for individual consumption taxes and environment-friendly vehicle tax benefits, the Ioniq 5 N can travel approximately 350 kilometers on a single charge.
The Ioniq 5 N merges the electric global modular platform (E-GMP) of the standard Ioniq 5 model with the motorsport-bred technologies of Hyundai’s N brand. E-GMP serves as Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated EV platform.
Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 are both built on the E-GMP platform, with the upcoming Ioniq 7 set to follow next year. The platform is also shared with other Hyundai Group brands like Genesis and Kia, with models like the GV60 SUV, EV6, and EV9.
Hyundai has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to invest 109.4 trillion won by 2032 to establish a strong position in the global future mobility market. The company also aims to sell 1 million pure electric models by 2030.
To support these goals, Hyundai is constructing dedicated EV factories, such as the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Georgia, USA, set to begin operations in the second half of 2024. Another EV-focused plant in Korea is planned to start production in 2025.
While the N models bring high-performance capabilities to daily driving, the N Line models introduce performance-inspired elements to the base models, bridging the gap between Hyundai’s high-performance N brand and its general brand offerings.
