TURA, Sep 3: The All Meghalaya RMSA Teachers’ Association (AMRMSATA) has submitted a memorandum with its charter of demands to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
The teachers in the memorandum submitted on September 1, among other demands, sought the enhancement of their salaries.
The RMSA teachers at present are being paid a meager salary, much less than their counterparts in the Government Aided Higher Secondary Schools. The association, while alleging that they are underpaid and devalued, sought that their salaries be enhanced at par with the others.
Pointing out that it was impossible to make ends meet and take care of their families as they have to wait for their salaries for 4-5 months, the teachers urged that necessary action be taken to ensure regular salary disbursement on a monthly basis.
The RMSA teachers are currently excluded from any benefits like medical assistance and social security schemes like the Central Provident fund.
In view of these, they requested that employment benefits like medical allowances, Gratuity and other post retirement benefits be made eligible for them.
