Litmus test for INDIA block as bypolls commence in seven assembly constituencies

Shillong, September 5: Polling for bypolls in seven Assembly constituencies across six states began at 7 am on September 5.

As per India Today, these elections aim to fill vacant seats and are significant as they mark the first electoral contest between the recently formed opposition bloc INDIA and the BJP-led NDA. The vote counting is scheduled for September 8.

In the Dumri assembly bypoll, the voter turnout was 11.40% by 9 am. In the first two hours of polling in the by-elections for Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly seats in Tripura, an average voter turnout of 18.71% was recorded. Ghosi had a voter turnout of 9.12% by 9 am, while Bageshwar in Uttarakhand saw a turnout of 10.2%.
