Janmashtami: Prez Murmu greets citizens
New Delhi, Sep 6: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday greeted citizens on the eve of Janmashtami and asked people to contribute to strengthen the nation by moving forward with the spirit of well-being of humanity. “The auspicious festival of Janmashtami is celebrated to mark the birthday of Lord Krishna. This is also an opportunity to learn from the life teachings of Lord Krishna. This festival promotes the spirit of love and devotion among the people,” she said in a message. Lord Krishna has shown the way to establish an ideal society by fighting against injustice and following the path of dharma and justice, Murmu said. She said that Lord Krishna has given the message of “Nishkam Karma” through the teachings of Gita. “Let us all take a pledge to follow the path shown by Lord Krishna and contribute to strengthen our society and nation by moving forward with the spirit of well-being of humanity,” the President said. Leader of ISIS Thrissur module nabbed by NIA
JNew Delhi, Sep 6: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday arrested the absconding chief of the ISIS Thrissur module from Tamil Nadu and foiled his plans to flee the country, an official said. Siyed Nabeel, the chief of the Thrissur-based module of the banned global terror group, was apprehended from Chennai by the NIA’s fugitive tracking team, which had been working on the ground for the past few weeks to nab him, a spokesperson of the federal agency said. The official said the accused had planned to escape from the country by using forged and fraudulent documents with Nepal as a transit point. He had been on the run and had been hiding at various places in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for the past several weeks after his module was busted, the spokesperson said. The official said incriminating documents and digital devices have been seized from the possession of Nabeel, who is the third accused to be arrested in the case since July. In July, the NIA had tracked and arrested Ashif alias “Mathilakath Kodayil Ashraf” from his hideout near Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu. (PTI)
