Tura, Sep 8: An FIR has been filed against a Lot Mondol working in the Land Records Branch of the GHADC for allegedly issuing an illegal land document to one, Idris Ali against land belonging to three different persons at Asikandi village in West Garo Hills.

The complaint was filed by Nurul Islam, one of the land owners, against GHADC employee Rashidur Islam at Phulbari Police station. The other two landowners are Aziar Rahman and Asma Bibi, both from Asikandi village under Phulbari PS.

According to Islam, an illegal land document in the name of Idris Ali was issued by Rashidur Islam against land belonging to him and the other two persons. Islam claimed that the illegal patta was issued with a forged sale deed written in Bengali in March 1982.

In the FIR, Islam mentioned several reasons why the sale deed could not be genuine.

“The sale deed was supposedly written by Late Mozial Hoque Master. However, his son- Baharul Ulam Sarkar denied in a recent panchayat meeting that the signature on the sale deed has no similarities with that of his father’s. Another thing is that the sale deed is written on A4 size paper which was not available in 1982,” Islam said.

Islam also pointed out that as per his voter ID, Idris Ali, who is said to have purchased the land from his father would have been just 13 years old in 1982 which makes him a minor and ineligible to purchase any land. Islam also claimed that there were records to show that his father acquired the said land only in 1986 and questioned how it could be sold to Idris Ali in 1982, four years before.

Interestingly, residents of Phulbari and Bhaitbari areas had earlier opposed the transfer of Rashidur Islam as Lot Mondol for the area alleging that he was known to be involved in illegal activities through his profession. The complaint was submitted to GHADC Deputy CEM, Nikman Ch Marak, a report of which was published in this newspaper.
