TURA, Sep 10: Candidates aspiring to be teachers in the plain belt of Garo Hills led by the AMMSU, Central Executive Committee, have submitted a complaint to the Director of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) in Shillong, alleging misleading advertisement put out for recruitment by two schools from the area- the Rajabala Higher Secondary School and the Bhaitbari Higher Secondary School.
According to the complainants, the advertisements were displayed in the school’s notice board on August 23 as well as in this paper on September 4.
“According to the Notification of the Education Department, dated:1″ july 2020 vide. Letter No. EDN.190/2011/Pt/333, it is dearly mentioned that in all categories of Schools, recruitment for vacant post in lower class I to class Vill, MTET is compulsory. But unfortunately, both the Deficit amalgamate schools in plain belt under DSEO, West Garo Hills are not following the above norms during advertisement and not mentioning whether the vacant post is under elementary section (|-VIll) or Secondary Section,” the complainants said.
“In the advertisement put out by the Rajabala Higher Secondary School it mentioned ‘Major in Assamese (MIL)’, whereas, as per N.C.T.E Guideline the requisite qualification for Assistant Teacher in secondary section is Graduate with B.Ed only. Moreover, there is no particular sanctioned subject teacher in secondary level in Meghalaya,” they added.
The complainants, while urging the official to look into the matter, also sought the cancellation of both advertisements as well as to verify all appointments after the department’s notification of July 1, 2020 vide EDN.190/2011/Pt./333 to ensure that qualified candidates are not deprived of appointment.
