Nongstoin, Sept 13: A wooden bridge in Tiehsaw Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District, was damaged on Wednesday morning after an overloaded dumper that tried to cross it.

The wooden bridge could not bear the weight of the truck and it started to collapse and the truck got stuck in the middle of the bridge, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to travelers.

The incident happened at around 11:00 am. The dumper, which was loaded with soil, belonged to a Jharkhand based Company Spica that is undertaking the ongoing construction work of the Nongstoiñ-Rambrai road.

The company is working to remove the truck from the bridge and to repair the damage. However, the bridge is still closed to traffic and commuters have to use alternative routes until it is repaired.
