SHILLONG, Sep 13: The Meghalaya Indigenous Minority Tribals’ Forum, Garo Hills, has asked Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to review the decision to oppose the nomination of unrepresented tribe to the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs).
The forum said that the CM, who led a delegation to meet the Prime Minister to take up the matter of ILP implementation and other issues in the state, submitted a memorandum wherein “the state government has opted against the nomination of un-represented tribes to the ADCs”. “The MIMTF humbly requests the Chief Minister to kindly review the decision and opt in favour of the nomination in question as proposed and recommended by the Parliamentary Standing Committee in the greater interest of the Indigenous Tribal Communities such as Hajong, Koch, Rabha, Boro-Kachari and Mann and also for such other tribes in the state, who are still very backward politically even after 51 years of statehood,” the Spokesperson of MIMTF, KC Boro, said in a statement.
