Shillong, September 15: The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a significant healthcare initiative, allowing government staff and their dependents to receive free cancer treatment.
As per IANS, this program falls under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Rajya Karamchari Cashless Chikitsa Yojana and is available at the Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute and Hospital (KSSSCIH) in Lucknow.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak inaugurated this service during an event celebrating the treatment of the 1000th patient under Ayushman Bharat at the institute on Thursday.
Pathak emphasized the government’s commitment to simplifying healthcare access within the state, highlighting the introduction of cashless facilities as another step in this direction. He reassured that financial constraints would no longer hinder cancer treatment, thanks to programs like Ayushman Yojana, which have streamlined patient care.
Prof R.K. Dhiman, the institute’s director, announced plans to expand the institute’s admission capacity from 250 beds to 750 beds in phases.
Dr. Devashish Shukla, the medical superintendent of KSSSCIH, reported that in just five months, they have provided treatment to 1,000 Ayushman Bharat cardholders, with expectations for more patients to benefit from various healthcare schemes.
