SHILLONG, Sep 14: Amidst an energised and concerted effort to uplift the nursing fraternity of the state, Indian Nursing Council president T Dileep Kumar has made a clarion call for creation of more nursing positions as per the norms approved by the Government of India.
This was conveyed at the fourth National Nursing Conference organized by the College of Nursing, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS), here on Thursday under the theme ‘Nursing Beyond Horizons: Prioritising Education, Strengthening Patient Care’.
Kumar, who inaugurated the conference, said that the policymakers are expected to work towards creating more positions to accommodate nurses which could potentially change the medical scenario. The Indian Nursing Council president acknowledged the financial constraints that several states have raised and their inability to expand the nursing sector.
Kumar, while admitting the difficulty, added that there should however be an effort by the policy makers.
