BSF holds health camp in SGH as part of its civic action programme
TURA, Sep 15: As part of its efforts to ensure the well-being of the border population, the 43 Bn BSF organized a free medical camp under the Civic Action Programme at Border out Post Chirangri in South Garo Hills on Friday.
During the camp, doctors of BSF and Civil conducted health checkups of border population and distributed free medicines among the needy villagers.
In addition to the Medical camp, Sh Tarni Kumar Tiu, DIG, BSF Sector Headquarters Shillong along with Ratikant Thakur, Commanding Officer of the 43 Bn BSF, distributed various essential items such as solar light sets, umbrella, plastic chairs & tables, sports equipment etc. to the students and needy villagers of border villages of Rongara, Chirangri, Seemakona and Dambuk Apal.
The program was attended by a large number of people from the local community.

 

Environment awareness programme held in NGH
TURA, Sep 15: An Environment awareness programme was on Thursday organised by the Garo Hills Environmental Protection Society (GHEPS) at Resubelpara in North Garo Hills.
The program was attended by the Church leaders, Political leaders, Social leaders, Government Officers, teachers and the students.
The dignitaries who spoke on the occasion included P K Sangma former CEM of GHADC Tura, A G Momin former President of GBC, T R Marak the ADC of North Garo Hills, Dr Junebirth A Marak, Associate Professor DIET, Resubelpara, P M Sangma the DSP of North Garo Hills and Rev. Enbirth K Marak the Executive Secy AB Krima 17.

 

Order for display of price list of essential items in EJH
Khliehriat, Sep 15: The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat informed on Friday that in order to safeguard the interest of consumers and the general public at large, to prevent untoward inflation of essential commodities and to avoid manipulation, it is mandatory that all traders and open market dealers put up and display clearly a board containing price list of all the essential items available in their stores. The price list board should be properly displayed for easy viewing of the consumers.
If there is any deviation from this direction, defaulters will attract stringent actions as per provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the official announced.

 

Onam celebrations on Sunday
SHILLONG, Sep 15: The All India Malayalee Association (Meghalaya Unit), together and its cultural wing Kalakairaly Shillong will be celebrating Onam on Sunday at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong from 10:30 am.
Governor of Goa, PS Sreedharan Pillai will grace the occasion as the chief guest, while Cabinet Minister, AL Hek Additional Chief Secretary, Shakeel P Ahamed will be the guests of honour.
Cultural presentations by the members and students studying in Shillong, recognition of achievers, Onam Sadya (the traditional feast) and a special act by a TV/Film artist from Kerala, Rajesh Admali will be the highlight of the programme.
