SHILLONG, Sep 15: Shillong Cricket Association will meet Ri-Bhoi District Cricket Association in what should be a gripping final of the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s U-19 Girls Inter District Cricket Tournament, which will be held tomorrow at the Umbuda Ground in Nongpoh.
SCA soundly defeated Tura DCA by 129 runs at the same venue in the second semifinal. Yesterday, Ri-Bhoi had beaten South Garo Hills DCA by three wickets in the first semi.
Jennyfer Fancon claimed the first hat-trick of the tournament as SCA bowled out Tura for just 45 runs while chasing 175 for victory. However, the Player of the Match award went to her team mate Monica Singh, who struck 50 not out with the bat before taking four wickets with the ball.
Tura chose to field first today after winning the toss but SCA loved the batting conditions and posted 174/6 in their allotted 25 overs. Monica hit 50 from just 55 deliveries with five fours and a six, while Jayshree Singh gave her good company with 33. Together the pair put on 51 in just 5.3 overs. Tura captain Awesa G Momin was the pick of the bowlers with 2/15 in 5 overs.
The chase never really got going as Shillong’s bowlers had it all their own way and Tura were dismissed for 45 in 15.1 overs. Pillika R Marak was the only batter to make something of an impact, as she finished on 12 not out from 16 balls.
Fancon only bowled two overs and she was the last of SCA’s five to be used but one over saw her dismiss three middle order batters (all bowled) off consecutive deliveries to finish with figures of 3/10. Monica, meanwhile, claimed 4/13 in 4.1 overs and Jayshree (1/14) also picked up a wicket too.
