Sign additional treaties with India: Nepal SC to government
Kathmandu, Sep 15: Nepal’s Supreme Court has asked the government to sign additional treaties and agreements with India, if needed, based on equality and mutual interests to stop criminal activities and ensure effective management of the open border between the two nations. The decision came in response to a petition filed by advocate Chandra Kanta Gyawali and border expert Buddhi Narayan Shrestha and others. Justices Prakash Man Singh Raut and Purushottam Bhandari issued the order in the name of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers; the federal parliament secretariat; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Defence; the Ministry of Home Affairs among others. “As the open border between Nepal and India has been frequently misused by the unwanted elements it should be regulated by security agencies using the latest technologies such as drones and CCTV,” Shrestha, one of the petitioners said, citing the full text of the order. “The court has also asked the government authorities to sign additional treaties and agreements, if needed, based on equality and mutual interests through political and diplomatic initiatives to ensure effective management and regulation of the open border,” Shrestha added. Sunak vows to ban dangerous dog breed after attacks
London, Sep 15: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Friday vowed to ban a dangerous breed of dog known as American XL Bully behind a number of recent attacks, most recently believed to be behind a man’s death this week in Staffordshire. The British Indian leader issued a video message to say he shared the public’s “horror” over the spate of attacks and that he had ordered urgent work to define and ban the American XL Bully dog breed. The issue has been in the headlines since last week when an 11-year-old girl suffered serious injuries after being attacked in Birmingham by a similar breed. “The American XL bully dog is a danger to our communities, particularly our children,” said Sunak in his message recorded at 10 Downing Street. “I share the nation’s horror at the recent videos we’ve all seen. Yesterday we saw another suspected XL bully dog attack, which has tragically led to a fatality. It is clear this is not about a handful of badly trained dogs, it’s a pattern of behaviour and it cannot go on,” he said. (AP)
