Accident leaves one dead in WKH

NONGSTOIN, Sep 16: One person succumbed while three other sustained severe injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge at Sohwanthiang village, in West Khasi Hills, on Saturday.
It was reported that the vehicle was coming from Pamphyrnai and proceeding towards Tiehsaw Khyllem.
Upon receiving the information, the police team reached the spot.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Referless Thongni of Mawkohiaw Nongkhlaw, Oblanding Syiemlieh of Dihwah Shatmoit, Rahul Sangma of Goalpara, Assam and Donborlang Thongni of Tiehsawkhyllem. The injured persons were rushed to Markasa Public Health Centre and later referred to the Shillong Civil Hospital for further treatment, while Rahul Sangma succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. In this connection, a case has been taken up under appropriate sections of law.
