Shillong, September 17: Poonam Gill, daughter of mining engineer Jaswant Gill, on whom the film ‘Mission Raniganj’ is based, has showered accolades on the latest track from the movie, titled ‘Jalsa 2.0′. She referred to it as a “bomb song.”

As per IANS, in a congratulatory message to Akshay Kumar, Poonam expressed her delight with the song and reminisced about her parents’ dancing skills. She shared, “What a bomb song! Papa and mummy were also great dancers. Papa was the captain of the Bhangra team in his college.”

Poonam continued to praise the track, highlighting the chemistry between Akshay and Parineeti, comparing it to the sweet energy she observed between her parents. She added, “Akshay has captured the same energy and sweetness in his chemistry with Parineeti as I have seen between my mummy and papa. He (Jaswant Gill) loved dancing, and so did my mum. It’s the Punjabi DNA. A man with many talents.”

The film ‘Mission Raniganj’ celebrates the life of Jaswant Gill, a mining engineer who played a heroic role in the rescue operation at the Raniganj Coalfield mine in West Bengal in 1989. Over 65 miners were trapped due to the blasting of walls, leading to a dire situation with limited time.

Jaswant Gill, alongside 2,000 other engineers, designed a massive capsule and successfully rescued the trapped miners using a crane. Unfortunately, six miners lost their lives due to collapsing walls caused by the blast.

In ‘Jalsa 2.0,’ Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra deliver a high-octane, energetic dance performance set to an upbeat pop-infused Bhangra tune. The song has garnered widespread acclaim.

Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Ajay Kapoor, ‘Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue’ is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, with music by Vishal Mishra. The movie is set to hit theaters on October 6, 2023.
