St Mary’s College conducts regional workshop

SHILLONG, Sep 16: In a proactive move to promote health and well-being among students, the Home Science Department of St. Mary’s College conducted a one-day regional workshop on the theme ‘Nutrition for all: Together towards Healthy India’ here on Saturday.
Experts in the field featured presentations during the sessions.
Gracedalyne Rose Shylla addressed the topic of ‘The Digital Diet Dilemma: Navigating Nutrition in The Social Media Age,’ offering valuable insights into the challenges posed by modern digital platforms in the context of nutrition.
The subsequent session featured dietician Chayanika Sarmah, who shared expertise on ‘The Real World of Dietetics: Understanding its Application and Scope,’ providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the practical aspects of dietetics.
The final session saw a presentation ‘Dietary Influences on Lifestyle Diseases,’ delivered by Dr. Iadrilang Tiewsoh, Associate Professor, General Medicine at NEIGRIHMS.
The workshop was conducted during the national nutrition week, an annual event celebrated to highlight the importance of balanced diets and adequate nutrition for individuals’ overall health and well-being, a statement issued here said.
