SHILLONG, Sep 19: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Tuesday informed the Assembly that a total of 6,92,979 eligible families have been covered under the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) in the state.
Speaking during a short duration discussion, Lyngdoh said that in 2022 -2023, an amount of Rs 162,20,61,387 was paid to the insurer while Rs 178,43,87,175 has been paid to the insurer since April 1, 2023.
According to Lyngdoh, total claim amount submitted in 2022-23 was Rs 198,54,08,098 while the total number of packages has been increased to 2,253.
Stating that Reliance GI was selected as the insurance partner through competitive bidding, Lyngdoh added that even hospitals from outside the state have submitted a total of 3,758 claims under the scheme.
Lyngdoh also made it clear that linkage of the schemes with Aadhaar is compulsory and different district administrations are conducting their own exercise to get beneficiaries to link their Aadhaar with the MHIS and PMJAY.
Earlier, Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem had asked the state government to increase the number of diseases which can be covered under the scheme. He also asked the government to keep a tab on how hospitals were implementing implement these schemes.
