Nongpoh, Sep 19: In commemoration of International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, the Office of the District Planning Officer in Ri Bhoi District, Nongpoh, organized an essay competition at the Science Hall in Nongpoh.
The theme for this year’s competition was “Montreal Protocol: fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change,” aligning with the global objective of preserving the ozone layer and addressing climate change issues.
Participants from eight different schools across the district showcased their knowledge and creativity by writing essays on this important topic. Additional Deputy Commissioner, and District Planning Officer, MB Tongper, praised and congratulated all participants, especially the winners who excelled in the competition.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where Gadiela N. Sungoh of Alpha English Hr. Sec School secured the first prize, followed by Grace Nida Mawnai of Nehru Memorial Hr. Sec School, Umsning, in the second place, and Lapynjanai Synrem of Don Bosco Hr. Sec School clinching the third prize.
