SHILLONG, Sep 20: The High Court of Meghalaya on Wednesday disposed of a petition pertaining to the rampant load-shedding that had been resorted to in the earlier part of this summer and the petitioner’s grievance that certain areas may have been more favoured than others in such regard.
The Court said, “Since the power situation has improved and several steps to augment power supply have been initiated, which, naturally, will take some time, the immediate grievance of the petitioner appears to have been addressed.”
The Court also directed the state government to ensure that hospitals and like emergency facilities are not disrupted even for a minute due to lack of power supply.
“It will be open to this petitioner or to any other public spirited citizen to refer to any deficiency in the supply of power in future, notwithstanding this order,” the court said.
