Khliehriat, Sept 21: The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills (EJH) District, Khliehriat, in an order issued under Section 144 CrPC, has prohibited overloading of vehicles and ordered them to strictly adhere to the authorized loading capacity of the concerned vehicle.

Further, according to the prohibitory order of the District Magistrate, transportation of stones or boulders by any vehicle should not exceed the height of the vehicle’s body and transporters have to ensure that no stone or boulder falls down from the vehicle during transportation.

The order was necessitated following reports of trucks and pick-up vehicles transporting stones and boulders exceeding the height of the vehicle’s body which poses serious danger to life and property especially because the road condition of NH 06 between Tuber Shohshrieh and Ratacherra has worsened even further leading to frequent breakdown of vehicles.
