Shillong, September 22: Director Ashutosh Gowariker is embarking on a historical biopic titled ‘Shankar,’ centered around the life of the renowned Vedic scholar and guru, Adi Shankaracharya. This project coincides with the unveiling of the majestic ‘Statue of Oneness’ in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh.

As per IANS, the impressive statue stands at a breathtaking height of 108 feet, paying homage to the legendary scholar, philosopher, and teacher.

The announcement of the film was made by the Acharya Shankar Sanskritik Ekta Nyas, which described it as a collaborative effort with Ashutosh Gowariker to bring the life and wisdom of Adi Shankaracharya to the silver screen.

Ashutosh Gowariker expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Adi Shankaracharya was a remarkable figure in Indian history, and his teachings continue to resonate with people around the world. I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to portray his life and wisdom on the cinematic canvas in collaboration with Nyas and Ekatma Dham.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan commented on the film, saying, “The time is absolutely right to explore the profound impact of Adi Shankaracharya’s teachings, his intellectual prowess, and his tireless efforts to unify the diverse strands of Sanatan Dharma. And I am extremely happy that we are collaborating with filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker for the same.”

With meticulous research and attention to detail, Ashutosh Gowariker’s cinematic portrayal of the great scholar, teacher, philosopher, and spiritual guide aims to both entertain and educate audiences while inspiring them with the vast wisdom of Adi Shankaracharya.

Adi Shankaracharya is revered as a trailblazer in Indian intellectual thought, particularly in the realm of Vedic philosophy, where he harmonized traditional teachings from numerous sacred texts with a pragmatic approach, departing from the abstract theoretical teachings of the rishis and sages of his time.
