Mawkyrwat, Sep 23: The Hynniew Trep Achick National Movement (HANM) South West Khasi Hills has expressed concern about the continue rising of prices of essential commodities in the state which has affected the people especially the poor. HANM president Lambokstar Marwein in a statement issued here said that the continuing price rise of essential commodities especially rice and cooking oil has badly affected the poor people especially the daily wages.
“Last year the price of rice was about Rs 1200 to Rs 1300 but now it has risen to Rs 1700 to Rs 1850 per bag (50 kg) while cooking oil has risen from Rs 90 per litre to Rs 120 per litre,” Marwein said.
“I don’t know why our public representatives did not raise their voice against the problem of price rise which is affecting the people of the state,” Marwein said.
