Shillong, September 25: Pegatron, the Taiwanese company, has temporarily suspended its iPhone assembly in the wake of a factory fire in Chengalpattu near Chennai.

As per IANS, the fire, caused by a short circuit, occurred on Sunday night, with no reported casualties.

Pegatron stated that the incident, characterized as a spark incident, is now under control. They emphasized that there have been no injuries, casualties, or damage to other assets.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by authorities, with no significant financial or operational impact on Pegatron Corporation anticipated.

This marks the second production suspension incident involving an Apple supplier in Tamil Nadu, following a mass food poisoning incident at a Foxconn iPhone factory that disrupted production for over a week.
