Auto driver arrested, 3 detained after 12-year-old girl’s rape in Ujjain

Shillong, September 28: In a distressing incident in Ujjain city, Madhya Pradesh, an auto driver was apprehended, and three others were taken into custody following the rape of a 12-year-old girl who was discovered bleeding on the streets.

As per India Today, the police disclosed that they obtained CCTV footage covering the 8-kilometer route the victim traversed on foot while desperately seeking assistance.

The arrested auto driver has been identified as 38-year-old Rakesh. It was revealed that the victim had initially boarded his auto at Jeevan Kheri, a fact confirmed by CCTV footage.

Subsequently, bloodstains were detected on the auto, and forensic analysis of the vehicle was underway. Among the three individuals detained in connection with the case, one was also an auto driver. Their identities have not been disclosed.

The 12-year-old girl, who suffered this horrific assault, underwent surgery conducted by a team of specialist doctors on Wednesday. Her condition is described as critical but stable, according to an official statement reported by news agency PTI.

The incident came to public attention when a video of the wounded girl walking on the street circulated widely on social media. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Mahakal police station concerning the rape of the minor girl, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.

Amidst widespread public outrage, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra announced the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to delve into this shocking crime.
