Shillong, September 29: Three individuals have been apprehended for alleged murder and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl in Assam’s Karimganj district. The perpetrators, aged 25 to 27, entered her home on September 9 while her parents were away.
As per IANS, the Superintendent of Police in Karimganj, Partha Pratim Das, revealed that the victim was known to her attackers. She was first strangled, and subsequent examination indicated sexual molestation.
The suspects, identified as Biplab Paul, Subhra Malakar, and railway worker Rahul Das, are residents of Karimganj district. Their motive was reportedly the victim’s refusal of an indecent proposal.
Rahul Das, believed to be the primary planner, is under investigation, with allegations of stalking and threats emerging from the victim’s family.
A case has been filed under various sections of the IPC, including gang-rape and murder, along with POCSO Act provisions. The accused will appear in court on Friday.
