Minor, struck by lightning in SWKHD, dies

Mawkyrwat, Sep 29: In a tragic incident, a 16-year-old boy died on the spot after he was struck by lightning at Rampharbah, Mawten village near Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills on Friday.
Police said that the incident occurred at Rampharbah at around 1 pm when the boy was on his way home from school after his exam. As it was raining he took shelter under a tree when the lightning hit killing him on the spot. The victim was identified as 16-year-old Aiborlang Marwein of Wahsiej village and a Class X student of Mawten Secondary School.
It was informed that exemption of post mortem was granted and the body was handed over to the family members.
