Shillong, October 9: In response to death threats related to the ‘Besharam Rang’ song from his movie ‘Pathaan,’ Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has requested increased security from the Maharashtra government.

As per IANS, this song, released earlier this year, sparked controversy due to the use of saffron color in one of actress Deepika Padukone’s dresses, which some fringe groups interpreted as mocking the saffron color associated with Hindu sentiment.

Paramhans Acharya, an Ayodhya-based seer, allegedly issued death threats to the actor in the wake of the song’s controversy. To address this security concern, Shah Rukh Khan wrote to the state government seeking enhanced protection.

Under the Y+ security category, Shah Rukh Khan will receive the protection of 11 security personnel, including six commandos, four police officers, and a traffic clearance vehicle. Y+ security is provided by the state to individuals facing threats to their lives.

In response to the state government’s directive, the IG VIP Security has increased the actor’s security, requiring him to deposit a certain sum of money.

It’s worth noting that in the past, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was also granted Y+ security cover after receiving threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang. This same gang was involved in the daylight murder of Punjabi music star Sidhu Moosewala.

Shah Rukh Khan has a history of confrontations with the Mumbai underworld and has been known to stand up to threats in the past.
